Thank you for your interest in this vital leadership role here at Bridgend County Borough Council.
Our new Chief Executive will play an integral part in the ongoing success of the council, working closely alongside me as Leader and other elected members, with colleagues throughout the organisation, and with a growing range of partner organisations to deliver the very best outcomes for the people of Bridgend County Borough.
Bridgend County Borough is a great place to live and work. It occupies an enviable position between Swansea and Cardiff, and stretches from the valleys to our beautiful coastline – presenting easy access to urban centres as well as picturesque rural and coastal settings. As a result, there is something for everyone here, and plenty to do all year round.
Bridgend County Borough is also a place where you can expect to be met with both complex challenges and great opportunities. We’re embarking on a new era of public services that require a different dialogue with our residents, encouraging communities to be more self-reliant as we make decisions around how the council invests its resources. Partnership working is becoming an ever-more important element of how we work, combining resources and skills across the public sector to simplify access for customers and reduce the costs of delivery.
Bridgend County Borough Council has a lot to be proud of – we have built a reputation throughout Wales as a well-run and highly effective council, so there is a great platform for our new Chief Executive to build upon. And as part of the country’s largest City Deal, worth in the region of £1.2bn which aims to create up to 25,000 new jobs, there couldn’t be a better time to be at the helm.
I look forward to working with the new Chief Executive to deliver our council vision: ‘One council working together to improve lives’. If this resonates with you and you can bring the energy, commitment and leadership to make it happen, this is a career-defining opportunity.
